Kookaburras!

I've been thrilled today to hear a family of kookaburras chortling away in the front garden. I've heard them nearby only a couple of times in the last 3 years.

I'm sorry these pictures aren't close-ups, but it's the best I could do.

Along with butcher-birds, magpies and cockatoos, my favourite birds.

  1. Kookaburras are among my favourite birds too, but unfortunately it has been a long time since any visited this suburban garden.

  2. Catmint, there are just a few as close to the city as along the Yarra in Toorak/Burnley, and in Hawthorn near Wallen Road, and in Burnley College gardens. I've also seen a giant monitor lizard and a robin redbreast there.

  4. How exciting to see such wildlife so near the city. Sometimes I think we are very lucky to live in Melb.
