Glitch
Some days, you feel everything's going fine - then, whoops, it's all upside down, or back-to-front. Last Sunday I celebrated my mother's birthday with my family, at an inner city hotel. A 'gastro-pub', I guess it would be known as. Of course I took my camera along, just for the ride; I was hoping to take shots along the way, of places new. Most of them were over-exposed, and utterly useless. The three below came out, and are actually four of my favourites, showing the bare, Italianate garden of a house in Victoria Parade, East Melbourne.
Despite my love of open, un-interfered-with spaces, there is nothing like a little formality, with little call for a gardener to get his hands dirty.

Of course one can only admire the architecture and the... formality of the building : )
ReplyDeleteenjoy the weekend my friend
With everything being re-modelled, upgraded and made-over, it's nice to find a house and garden in a time-warp! Happy weekend to you too Demie!
DeleteHello Faisal:
ReplyDeleteWe are completely at one with you over this. And what a splendid looking house. How we should love it!
I'll pop over and get the keys right mow...have a lovely weekend Jane and Lance!
DeleteWhat an elegant house and garden. Well, what there is of garden.
ReplyDeleteI hope the meal worked better than the other photos.
You're right, Friko, there's very little garden. Part of me wouldn't mind that...
DeleteYes, lunch was very friendly and excellent.
a tamed space, a garden that is non-gardened...here all is untamed but in your photos it's tranquil, a place to sit with a book and tea and maybe a pillow for a (discreet and sophisticated) snooze.
ReplyDeleteA garden can be tranquil whether it's gardened or not, can't it? The garden shown here is the opposite of what I face at home!
Deleteelegant and minimalist. I wonder if it's a private house. So many of those sorts of houses in Victoria Street have been taken over by doctors or other professionals.. Let's get into the time warp and imagine it in its hey day with horses and carriages going down the street.
ReplyDeleteI think this one IS a private house, Catmint. I want it. Or anywhere in East Melbourne!
DeleteI try to introduce more formality into the Priory gardens, Faisal. But the owner is a little resistant so I do it very, very slowly! Dave
ReplyDeleteI really like formal elements when they're set against wild elements, Dave. Working for/among others is indeed challenging!
