This picture, which I've included in my new header, is of me when I was very young. It was taken by my father in our dining-room. The little
gendarme visible beside me was bought by my father in Paris. Sadly, I don't have him any more, but his spirit lives on in a certain vigilance I like to apply to my life and to my gardening.
Hello Faisal:
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming photograph and how wonderful that you have cherished it over the years and still have it. Such a pity that the cheeky 'gendarme' has long gone, but fun that he remains captured for ever, with you, on film.
We are most impressed by your new header. So many facets of a fascinating life is how we interpret it. Perfect!
Hello Jane and Lance,
DeleteOf course, when you're a child, there's nothing you hate more than having to stand around for photographs. It's only now I'm glad I went through the trials!
Yes, it's all very fascinating!
and the twinkling smile is unchanged!
ReplyDeleteDiana, you're very kind. I'm sure a twinkle is all it takes sometimes!
DeleteFaisal It is a wonderful picture and a wonderful tribute to your father. Bonnie
ReplyDeleteThankyou, Bonnie. I remember my father insisting we pose for him, none of us with any enthusiasm!
DeleteWhat a beautiful photo and memory of your father. I recently found photos of my and my father when I was about 2 years old. I'm so grateful for them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michael. No, I wouldn't want to be without a few old photos either...
Deletethe gendarme is very very sweet, and in some ways, you still look the same, a similar expression on your face.
ReplyDeleteEach of us preserves the essence of our child, I hope...
