I wanted Zara to have puppies. but the attendant difficulties - primarily my own desire to keep tham all - meant that I needed to have her speyed. On the 8th of February we visited the vet. Fortunately, and with her own natural ability to bounce back, all went well, and tomorrow the stitches will be taken out. Here she is, recovering from surgery. I have to say that the cone she was supposed to wear over her head to stop her bothering her stitches was tried on, very briefly, twice, and quickly removed. She looked so desolate in it, I had to take it off. I'm sure it will soon be tossed out into the garbage. Not once has she bothered her stitches at all. One of the things she loves to do most in the world is push herself along, chin on the ground, front paws tucked under, like she's swimming. I'm sure she was a powerful fish - a tuna or a salmon - in a former life!
So glad all went well and she had a speedy recovery. She is adorable. Bonnie
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bonnie. I'm so very grateful it's gone without a hitch.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little dog, glad she is ok. And glad I stumbled onto your blog. I will be following with interest.

Thanks Shaun. I've had a peak and will do.
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute! You are lucky to have her : )
ReplyDeleteShe's my best friend, Demie.
ReplyDeleteShe' a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteI know about those collars, not one of my dogs has ever wanted to wear theirs and they've always had to come off very quickly.
our dogs are so good for us. she's a trooper, and pretty cute, too!
ReplyDeleteFriko, I had to go to work, leaving the collar off. Though I had all sorts of horrific visions, my underlying feeling was that everything'd be fine. The vet was quite firm about its necessity. Fortunately Zara had more sense than he'd anticipated...
ReplyDeleteYes, Velma, a dog fills a void, and is so very grateful for love.
ReplyDeleteMy dog, Hobbes, was forever wearing a 'cone' - catching it on doors, scooping up food on its edges. Horrible things but she would incessantly lick stitches given the chance. Sadly she lost her tummy button when she was spayed - they don't tell you that, you see. "Your dog will lose its tummy button." Very upsetting. Glad Zara is sailing through to recovery.
ReplyDelete"Hobbes" - where does that come from? I hate to say I haven't noticed Zara's tummy button either before surgery or after. All I can see now is not even a mark. Thanks Dave; I have a great fondness for dogs.
ReplyDeleteShe was named after the toy tiger in the brilliant 'Calvin and Hobbes.' And if you never noticed Zara's belly button then happily you haven't gone through the trauma of losing it. PC problems or no - I forbid you to give up blogging!
DeleteThanks for answering, Dave. I don't want to give up blogging, but will have to get a new computer. There may be a break in transmission...
DeleteHi Faisal,
ReplyDeleteI would like to nominate you for a Liebster Blog Award. I hope you haven't already gotten one! Check out my blog for details. Thanks, Michael
Michael that's very kind...I haven't been nominated for a 'Liebster', but being able to understand German, have an idea what it might be. Sometimes, with my very dodgy computer, I wonder if I can even continue blogging. I'll check what it's all about. ( Wow! )
ReplyDeletedear Faisal, I've never heard of a Liebster, I wonder if it's a kind of lobster. Whatever it is, i'm sure you deserve it. Poor Zara, she has lost more than her tummy button, I wish her a speedy recovery and send her a kiss and a hug. cheers, cm
ReplyDeleteThankyou, Catmint! The vet told me she'd had an unusually large uterus, which, I assume, means she'd have been very fertile. I'd have loved to have let her have puppies. ( She's getting lots of kisses and hugs! )
