Glitch

Some days, you feel everything's going fine - then, whoops, it's all upside down, or back-to-front. Last Sunday I celebrated my mother's birthday with my family, at an inner city hotel. A 'gastro-pub', I guess it would be known as. Of course I took my camera along, just for the ride; I was hoping to take shots along the way, of places new. Most of them were over-exposed, and utterly useless. The three below came out, and are actually four of my favourites, showing the bare, Italianate garden of a house in Victoria Parade, East Melbourne.
Despite my love of open, un-interfered-with spaces, there is nothing like a little formality, with little call for a gardener to get his hands dirty.

    1. With everything being re-modelled, upgraded and made-over, it's nice to find a house and garden in a time-warp! Happy weekend to you too Demie!

  3. What an elegant house and garden. Well, what there is of garden.

I hope the meal worked better than the other photos.

    1. You're right, Friko, there's very little garden. Part of me wouldn't mind that...
Yes, lunch was very friendly and excellent.

  4. a tamed space, a garden that is non-gardened...here all is untamed but in your photos it's tranquil, a place to sit with a book and tea and maybe a pillow for a (discreet and sophisticated) snooze.

    1. A garden can be tranquil whether it's gardened or not, can't it? The garden shown here is the opposite of what I face at home!

  5. elegant and minimalist. I wonder if it's a private house. So many of those sorts of houses in Victoria Street have been taken over by doctors or other professionals.. Let's get into the time warp and imagine it in its hey day with horses and carriages going down the street.

    1. I think this one IS a private house, Catmint. I want it. Or anywhere in East Melbourne!

  6. I try to introduce more formality into the Priory gardens, Faisal. But the owner is a little resistant so I do it very, very slowly! Dave

    1. I really like formal elements when they're set against wild elements, Dave. Working for/among others is indeed challenging!
